What is the difference between Information Technology, Computer Science and Information System courses?

What is Information Technology, Computer Science and Information System?

Many say’s that Information Technology, Computer Science and Information System have commons and syempre meron din naman differences. Pero minsan depende din to sa university na pinipasukan mo, cause some university nagccover din ng same subjects sa tatlong course that mentioned. Like sa isa kong na search, it sed that “IT is more general--you would be exposed to networking, system administration, and programming/databases. CS is usually just programming and a lot of math” pero meron naman na mga CS students na nagaaral din ng mga na-mentions for IT mean CS is not just in programming.

Ito kase yun.. Computer Science (CS) is more than just teach you how to program, this course teaches you how to think more methodically and how to solve problems more effectively. And Computer Science is concerned with algorithms, data structures, complexity theory, numerical methods, design patterns, Low/High Level languages (such as Assembly, C/C++, Java, C#), software architectures.

Information Systems (IS) on the other hand is concerned with the relationship between information systems and the organizations that they serve. This relationship includes not only the theory and principles of such, but also the application and development. In IS, they captures and manage data to produce useful information that supports an organization and its employee, customers, suppliers and partners.

Information technology (IT) is refers to the application of computer programs to solve business processes. It is the application of technology in business. Information Technology is concerned with technology to treat information. The acquisition, processing, storage and dissemination of vocal, pictorial, textual and numerical information by a microelectronics-based combination of computing and telecommunications are its main fields. And it is, well, more technical: lots of hands-on with a focus on more practical business applications.

What are their differences?

Information Systems (IS) vs Information technology (IT)

Information technology is specific to a particular segment of an overall information system. This segment is of course oriented towards the hardware, software and documentation that makes up information technology. This can be anything as simple as a keyboard button or screen pixel to as complex as a RAID array server farm hosting VM Ware for application development. Information technology is a part of (a big part) of what makes up an information system and is always part of an information system by its very nature in moving, manipulating, storing and retrieving data.

Computer Science (CS) vs Information technology (IT)

Computer science deals with creating computer programs while IT deals with the usage of those programs in business. Information technology integrates computer science into the business world for automated solutions.

Information Systems (IS) vs Computer Science (CS)

Computer science deals primarily with the software component of an information system. Computer scientists learn how to write efficient and effective computer programs. They also study database design and the efficient processing of databases. Computer scientists are normally not concerned with the design and development of computer hardware. IS students are concerned with the application of information systems to help organizations achieve their goals and objectives by creating competitive advantages, enabling organizational cost savings, solving problems, and so forth.
